Las Vegas has once again come out on top of the pile as far as folks being underwater on their mortgages. Now is not the time to sell a home, though many Las Vegans are being forced to do just that.

Buyers, on the other hand, will find the valley’s inventory much to their liking. Homes that sold for over $300k just a few years ago can be had for under $100k. Whereas at one time one needed to move north to find low prices, the entire valley is fairly priced. No commute and lower house payments. Gotta love that.

Yet Another Las Vegas Scam

Nevada’s Attorney General wants you to know about Title Compliance, a Las Vegas company that is sending out notices to Nevada homeowners regarding their property deeds. The company, for a fee of $157, will send you a copy of your deed.

The problem the AG is having with Title Compliance, and companies like it, is that all Nevada property owners, for little or no cost, can obtain a copy of their deed and supporting documents at the recorder’s office in the county where it was originally filed. In Las Vegas, that would be Clark County.

This is a good time to remind newcomers to the Las Vegas valley that we seem to have more than our fair share of scam artists. Before you part with your hard-earned money, check the company with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). If the company isn’t listed with the BBB, do …
