When thinking about either building a home or looking for new construction homes for sale, it may be wise to consider all of your window placements throughout the house. Many people don’t really take the minute to pay attention to where they are looking out into (unless it’s a marvelous view) until they move into the home and realize that the view isn’t as desirable as they would have hoped.
An Example of a Less Desirable Window Placement
The 2010 Sundance Film Festival will have a movie titled, El Hombre de al Lado airing Sunday January 24th to Friday January 29th at various times. This movie is about a man, Leonardo, who wakes up one morning hearing construction outside of his window. When he looks out, much to his disbelief, his neighbor is constructing a window that directly looks into his home. The neighbor’s intention wasn’t to look into this man’s home but rather to be able to catch a bit of sunlight from that direction. However, the sunlight wasn’t as bright as either of them probably hoped.
The Power of Window Placement in Your Home
When purchasing new homes for sale, you don’t have much say where the windows are placed. However, you do have the decision on whether or not to buy a new home for sale if its windows are not located to your liking.
- Many people, who practice feng shui, believe that if windows face certain directions, it will bring them either power or dread.
- Other people look to windows to be their source of light during the day to cut down on heating bills.
- Alternatively, some people will look to make sure that windows are not in direct line of the sun coming up to make sure that they are not blinded in the morning and to cut down on cooling costs. Even though you could simply put curtains up, some people enjoy having a view rather than looking at the same fabric hanging.
Window Placement of Your Neighbors
Lastly, like in the Sundance Film Festival’s El Hombre de al Lado, you want to pay attention to your neighbor’s window placements too. You don’t want to end up like Leonardo!
